Modified Picture (Will Not Harm) |
A Twitter user, Ice universe, on 31 May 2020, told about this issue, saying that, "WARNING!!! Never set this picture as wallpaper, especially for Samsung mobile phone users! It will cause your phone to crash! Don't try it! If someone sends you this picture, please ignore it". Below I have attached tweet of Ice universe.

Well this an Android Bug, and Google along with Samsung is working on this issue to resolve.
What happens when you set it as Wallpaper
After setting this picture as Wallpaper, System UI crashes again and again, even you won't be able to unlock your device. Below you can see the proof.
@UniverseIce This is an android issue sadly is affecting also google pixels as well pic.twitter.com/HZTtogLfwB— Sebastian (@seb3153) May 31, 2020
So, the only option left with you is to enter in Boot-loader and Format your Device. If your are having device backup, then it's cool, else you will loose everything of your device.
What's causing this Issue...?
Well this issue is only due to 1 Pixel, yes just 1 Pixel. Let me explain to you, Android Devices are calibrated to sRGB Color Profile for consistency. But this picture was originally captured with Nikon Camera with color profile ProPhoto RGB. But wait, that's not the issue, Android Devices are programmed to convert pictures from ProPhoto RGB and Adobe RGB, etc.
For conversion of Pixel Luminance, Android uses below formula:
For conversion of Pixel Luminance, Android uses below formula:
Resultant Luminance = 0.2126*(R) + 0.7152*(G) + 0.0722*(B)
and here comes the issue, individually R, G, or B can have only be 255(max) and Resultant should be 255 or less. But what happens here is, the faulty pixel has R=255, G=255 and B=243 which gives 54.213, 182.376 & 17.5446 and total as 254 (approx), which shouldn't be the issue. But here is one twist, it seems that Android rounds-off the values and gives 55, 183 & 18 and total as 256 (which is more than 255, and hence, issue arises). This sends the device into a spiral loop. In a normal process, Android closes the application to fix the error, but here in this case, error arises as soon as user turns on device screen. So, each time Android closes the System UI to fix issue, but it can't. Currently to solve this issue, you will have to enter in Boot-loader and Format your Device. Might be, Android 11 fixes this issue.

ReplyDeleteI had already told in the post that this wallpaper is affecting especially Samsung Devices. If you liked the wallpaper, then you should have used the modified one not the Original.
